Welcome to Wizards and Wands. My blog dedicated to the residents of my miniature village and houses. Here you will find tales from the characters in my 12th scale houses and shops and some of my favourite miniature wands and possessions. A little bit of fun from a magical, but rainy Wales x

Bloomin Awful Florists!!

Welcome to 'Bloomin Awful Florists'

This little florsits is still under construction in that it needs an 'outdoor' space and some shelf filling, but as its been such a long time since I last updated this blog, I decided not to wait any longer.

So welcome to my latest witchy project,' Bloomin Awful Florits'  the latest addition to my witchy Village:  Hazel Hill

If we peek through the door of the little florists, we can just see .....

Morag has been looking after plants for many years now, but still hasn't quite got the hang of it. In fact, poor Morag is guilty of spending too much time eating birds nest soup and bread and not tending to her plants!

Morag would firmly deny this though and blames the untimely die back of her poor plants on slugs!
So everday, she takes her cane and goes 'slugbashing' Luckily, the slugs are wise to her ways now and they stay out of her little shop!

Morag has a couple of little helpers in the shop; Milly and Molly, who take care of the little withered plants and cast little magic spells to restore them to their full beauty when a prospective purchaser comes along.

If you peek through the window again, you can see some of the fresh green leaves from restored plants

But don't tell Morag is was Milly and Molly who looks after the plants, that's a little magic not to be shared :)

Meeting the Peeswick Family

My first family to move into Hazel Hill are the Peeswick Family.
Handsculpted for me by Joy of Adora Bella Dolls they are deligfhtful and perfect for the scene setting I have in Hazel Hill.

Angus is the head of the household and runs the village Apothecary....

Whilst 'mum' Alice runs the local magical pet shop.....

where Neville their 'son' will call in to on his way home from gathering newts!!

Inside the Petshop, there is a variety of little magical creatures, hand made for me by Nicky

There is Casius the Crow, who refuses to sit in his cage and would much rather perch on top!!

and Rompold the Rat, who sits on the shop counter guarding his stacks of magic tips!!

The pet shop is yet to be named and will be filled with yet more magical creatures, some of which I already have but have yet to photograpgh.. so I will edit this post this week :0)

Donning an apron and a feather duster, Ernest is the perfect 'Under the thumb' husband!!

Whilst Esme takes time out for a cup of tea behind the shop counter!

Or pops out to 'see' Flora...

Flora on the other hand has her own shop... Evies.. a little welsh shop.. but she can often be found in the Olde Abbey.....

Flora is also handmade by Joy :0)

Then along came the wizards and a Goblin

Having witches in Hazell Hill, meant that I had to have wizards too and whilst browsing through Etsy one day in 2010, I came across this wonderful pair if wizards. Sculpted by Cee of Oberon's Wood, they were perfect for my Wizards and Wands Bookstore, with the exact look I was after...the right age, the right look on their faces and great robes.

This is Sambucus Spearwort, the proprietor of Wizards and Wands....

and his good friend Wizard Polemonium, who is in charge of the Wizard and Wands Bookstore

Working for him is my wonderful Goblin... Gibson....

who I bought at Miniatura in 2010 from Jain of Giddy Kipper Dolls

Some months later, I decided to build a wizarding sweetshop... and of course, I had to have a special wizard sweet maker...

So I contacted my friend Joy of Adora Bella Minis and she sculpted Oswald.... he is perfect, with rounded cheeks and frizzy hair trying to escape from under his hat! As my project progresses, he will have sticky sweet dabs on his as yet pristine white apron, where he will of wiped his sticky, sweet making hands on his apron!

Keeping him company in the sweet shop, is his wife Matilda, also sculpted by Joy.
She is adorable, but alas, I think she has been at the sweets again with those goofy looking teeth ;0)

and here they both are... behind the counter of Maple and Pear Confectioners.....

Totally wonderful together :0)
